The Laser Eagles Show: Celebrating Artists with Diverse Abilities
October 7 – November 26, 2009
Opening reception: Wednesday October 7, 2009
Artists: Debbie Holmes, Michelle Gifford, Chloe Shard, Sasha Jay (Gay) Robinson, Ashley Thornton, Felicia Galati, Emily Hutchins
We were honoured to once again present an exhibition featuring artwork by the dynamic artists of the Laser Eagles Art Guild. In 2007, we displayed artwork by Judith Snow (the founder of Laser Eagles) and ten other artists and we were thrilled to work with this group again.
The show featured paintings by seven members of the Laser Eagles Art Guild. On October 7, 2009, we hosted a reception to celebrate the opening of the Laser Eagles exhibition with the artists, their families and friends in attendance. Many of the paintings were sold throughout the show and proceeds from the sale of artworks directly supported the Laser Eagles Guild.
The Laser Eagles Art Guild is an organization that offers people with limited or no speech and with restricted use of their limbs the opportunity to partner with others in their community to create art.
The name Laser Eagles is derived from the creative process, in which the artist uses a laser pointer to communicate what should be painted on the canvas to a 'tracker' or 'helper'. Trackers are volunteers: students, friends, family or artists who understand the artists and their abilities.
