My City My Six: Migration Stories

"Searching for Migration Stories” Workshop

For Families (Aduts/Children/Youth) with Melanie Fernandez Alvares
Saturday May 6 & 13, 1:00pm – 3:00pm

So many things happen in our everyday lives that can be amazing stories – stories from the past that find their way into the present and shape our future stories – remain unspoken and untold. This series of workshops will offer a group of adults and children different creative activities and writing techniques that encourage self-expression to create individual and collaborative stories. Celebrating participant’s stories is important, so stories can be as raw, authentic and individual as the participant chooses.

The final artwork will be ready for display as part of the My City My Six exhibition at the Arts Etobicoke Storefront Gallery and outdoor Art Alley for Fall 2017. If you want to participate in this free, first-of-its-kind workshop, please contact Graham Curry at graham@artsetobicoke.com to register. Light refreshments will be provided. Space is limited and registration is required.

My City My Six is a participatory public art project that will reveal Toronto and its residents in celebration of Canada 150, six words at a time. We want to hear your story. Share something essential about yourself in six words.

Workshops will take place in Arts Etobicoke Storefront Gallery, 4893A Dundas Street West, Toronto.
