The Business of Art
Presented by WorkInCulture
Apr 2 – May 14, 2012 at Arts Etobicoke
Arts Etobicoke was pleased to host The Business of Art, a seven week course presented by WorkInCulture and designed to help professional artists from all disciplines improve their business skills.
Sixteen artists gathered each week to learn about the business practices necessary to sustain a career in the arts, including creating business plans, doing marketing research, financial planning and more.
Sessions were led by Jack Cunningham, an arts business coach, writer, producer, and performer. Guest instructors included Amanda Mills, a financial specialist, and Jyotika Malhotra, a marketing specialist.
The participants were exceptionally lively and interesting with a wonderful diversity of experience and arts disciplines. On the final day of the course, they presented a summary of their goals and plans for the future.
The Business of Art was possible thanks to the partnership of Arts Etobicoke, Mississauga Arts Council, and Lakeshore Arts.
